I have spent a good portion of my 75 years in search of the ultimate pen. I have finally found two pens that satisfy my craving for good writing pens. One is this beautiful Ellington Fountain Pen with Fine Nib. My other favorite writing pen is a Mont Blanc Rollerball pen with a Schmidt Fineliner felt tip refill. I alternate between the two when I pick a pen to bring to work. I love writing with the Ellington fountain pen. The balance and feel in my hand suits my writing style perfectly with the cap posted. I have fairly large hands. Some may find the pen a bit top heavy with the cap posted. The pen writes beautifully and always starts immediately as soon as the nib touches the paper. I am using Waterman black ink.
My only complaint would be that the cap is a bit hard to pull off when getting ready to use the pen. It takes a pretty good tug. This is not a deal breaker as far as I am concerned and I am hoping it will loosen up with use. I open and close the pen many times a day at work. Another thing I do not like is the converter ink device included with the pen seems very cheap and flimsy. I will look into replacing it later.
aesthetically it is a beautiful and elegant looking pen. I always choose a black and gold look when buying pens. I will update my review in the future in the event my opinion changes as I use the pen more.

I started using fountain pens to write almost exclusively in 1972. Over a half century, I’ve used dozens of brands. I own the gorgeous fountain pen that Microsoft used as the Word welcome page in 2013. My employees know that one of two things that will get them fired would be picking up my gold-nibbed fountain pen and dragging it across paper. The soft gold wears to my particularly script.

None of those pens are as good as this Ellington. I don’t know what magic they’ve put in their nib, but its glide across paper is ecstatic. The weight and size of the barrel balances in my smaller hand. I believe it would also work well in a larger hand than mine. The cap is removed and replaced with a satisfying click. Swapping between pens with different inks is quicker than using pens with caps that screw. The converter drinks in ink to fill completely and releases it to the nib perfectly.

My love language is pens. I will gift everyone I love with this one.

The advertising for Ellington Pens stated smooth writing, silky, buttery. That is what I experienced of my Ellington Pen right out of the box when I inserted an Ellington ink cartridge. It released ink from the fine point, in the right amount the moment I started writing. The ink flow, the lettering is beautiful. No faults with ink dispersion, no small blots appear as I write. No ink on my fingers as I handle the pen. My pen is a joy to write with. You can pay more or less. This pen is priced right and delivers on its promise and advertising.

I have been writing with fountain pens for over 50 years. I was part of the generation required to learn cursive writing in grade school, and all writing assignments had to be conducted using a fountain pen. My first pen was a very inexpensive $1.00 Sheaffer cartridge (circla.1961). It was a perfect writing pen. This pen reminds me of my old Sheaffer in the very best ways. The pen provides some feedback, which I like, and unlike my old Sheaffer, it does not dry out! Over the years, I have aquired other costly gold nib pens, but after owning this pen for several months, I still use it weekly. This is a great buy. I purchased this pen with a fine nib.

This pen was so well made and had a wonderful nib it writes so great. so smooth and constant good flow of ink. The only thing I had trouble with was the weight of the pen I have small hands and some arthritis and the weight of the pen was not comfortable for me my hand was hurting to use so I had to return the fountain pen. The fine nib was one of the best ones I have used it seems a very true fine size nib some other fine nib pens seem to write bolder but this one does not write heavy. This pen is so
well made but to heavy for my hand. I liked it so much I considered to keep it but decided that I probably would not use it very much and maybe be sorry if my hand starting hurting. I liked the converter that comes with the pen it was good quality also. But the best thing I liked was the quality nib. I hope ellington makes a lighter pen in the future because there are so many nice things with this fountain pen. I loved the red color also !! The Quality is excellent,wonderful pen !!

To begin with it came nicely boxed. The pen is a wonderful cobalt blue with the sheen of the metal shining through. This is the fine nib. Smooth and not scratchy. Reverse writing is also smooth, a bit scratchy,but no skipping. It comes with three cartridges ( 2 black, 1 blue) and a converter. I filled with Noodler’s Lexington Grey and began writing. Smooth, no hard start, smooth. The pen is heavyand Findposting makes it seem out of balance. Perhaps someone with larger hands would prefer it posted.
It is a beautiful pen with alloyed gold nib and trim. I find for the money it is well worth it.

I just received this pen today and I love it. It’s beautiful and elegant with a good balanced weight. When I first tried to write with it, nothing came out. But there was a black card with a QR code that came in the box. I scanned it and was immediately connected to support personnel who were happy to send me a link explaining how to load the pen. It was easy! I also ordered a leather bound journal as well and the pen writes beautifully! I would definitely recommend this as a gift!

I have a large collection of high end fountain pens and most of them have 14k nibs. I decided to try this pen and I am awed by its appearance and its writing experience. The nib is smooth and responsive. The pen looks like a high end pen and yet it has the price of many truly ordinary and scratchy pens. If you love writing with a fountain pen you will be thrilled with this bargain. If you are new to fountain pens this is the way to go. I got the white pen with rose gold accents and a fine point. I will be buying more so I can have several with different ink colors ready to go with different sized nibs.
